Exponential growth in computing performance, fundamentally fueled by Moore’s Law, has resulted into dramatic improvements across broad spectrum of technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Internet-of-Things, Cloud Computing, and 5G networking. These technologies are driving insatiable demand for computing performance. Augmenting Moore’s Law scaling with design and architectural innovations has become the method for achieving exponential performance growth. However, product development costs on leading edge process technologies are increasing exponentially necessitating design and verification productivity improvements. This talk describes the challenges in design and verification technologies, opportunities in methodologies, and innovations needed to realize AI, IOT enabled world.
Biography: Srikanth (Sri) Nimmagadda is a Senior Principal Engineer in Intel and works in the Platform Engineering Group, India. His primary area of focus is on chip integration, process technology/architecture interactions and design quality for high volume manufacturing. He started in Intel (his first job) in 1998 and worked on 9 generations of CPUs/process nodes. He has been in different leadership roles in multiple billion dollar chip designs/innovations at Intel. Mr. Nimmagadda is currently working on yield/reliability/resiliency technologies and strategies to advance chips to 5nm and beyond. He received his Masters in Electrical Engineering from Clemson University and B.Tech in Electronics/Communications from IIT-Madras.
